FINAL RECAP — SFC Bay Point Billfish Open: Third Coast Renegades Claim Second Gulf Win of the Season With 2,025 Points
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. — June 27, 2026. The Third Coast Renegades are Gulf Division champions of the Bay Point Billfish Open. Fishing the Sport Fishing Championship's six-boat Gulf stop inside the roughly 90-boat host tournament at Point South Marina, the defending division champions closed championship Saturday at 2,025 points, holding off a hard-charging Mississippi Blues squad by 125. It is the Renegades' second win in three SFC Gulf tournaments this season, and once again the father-and-son duo of Garrett and Dylan Frazier did the heavy lifting.
How the Stop Was Won
Day 1 — Thursday, June 25. The Renegades came out of the shotgun start hot: Dylan Frazier released the SFC field's first blue marlin of the tournament and Garrett Frazier stacked a sailfish on top, staking the team to an early lead of roughly 600 points. The Gulf Coast Cowboys, meanwhile, never got a clean start — a bent propeller kept them tied up while the rest of the division fished.
Day 2 — Friday, June 26. The Mississippi Blues took control behind Adam Davidson, who released two blue marlin and a white marlin in a 1,000-point day that put Mississippi on top at 1,450 to the Renegades' 1,350. The Texas Lone Stars kept themselves in the hunt with a stack of sailfish and white marlin releases from Bryan Richter and David Blackbird, and the Cowboys mounted a gutsy comeback after an 11-plus-hour prop repair, with Brian Kelley and Dalton Benefield each releasing a blue marlin. For the West Florida Black Flags, Rose McMahon logged the first two SFC releases of her career.
Day 3 — Saturday, June 27. The decisive swing came less than two hours into championship Saturday: Garrett Frazier released a sailfish and Dylan Frazier added another blue marlin to put the Renegades back in front for good. A later sailfish pushed the team past the 2,000-point mark — breathing room the Blues could not close. Mississippi hunted the sailfish it needed for a grand-slam bonus all afternoon and never found it.
"We knew we were up against boats packing 3,000 to 4,000 gallons of fuel," Garrett Frazier said in SFC's tournament recap, crediting captain Drake Sawyer with a plan to work the current rather than outrun the fleet.
