SFC STANDINGS UPDATE — Atlantic Division: South Florida Sails Extend Their Lead as the Top-Two Playoff Race Tightens
This is an SFC standings update for the Sport Fishing Championship Atlantic Division as of July 22, 2026.
The Atlantic Division's fourth stop is in the books, and the points overlay shifted with it. At the SFC Cape Cod Invitational (July 17–19) — a weather-shortened, two-day event out of MacDougall's Marina — the South Florida Sails Angling Club held off a historic Saturday charge to take the win and extend their grip on the division lead. With four of six regular-season tournaments now complete, the race for the two Atlantic playoff berths has tightened into one of the closest in the division's history.

- New Jersey Sea Birds Angling Club — 11,900 points

North Carolina Flare Angling Club (9,000) and Rhode Island Breakers Angling Club (8,000) round out the seven-club field.
How Cape Cod Moved the Board
Points allocated at the Cape Cod Invitational (Stop 4):
- South Florida Sails — 1,450 (1st)
- South Carolina Outcast — 1,300 (2nd)
- New Jersey Sea Birds — 1,200 (3rd)
- North Carolina Flare — 950 (4th)
- East Coast Remix — 700 (5th)

South Florida Sails set the tone Friday with a triple white marlin release and a blue marlin, then answered every run on Championship Saturday — including the day's biggest fireworks, when South Carolina Outcast completed the league's first-ever blue marlin double to vault from fifth into second at the event. A disqualified North Carolina Flare release, wiped out after officials ruled a mate touched the line, ultimately helped decide a stop settled by roughly 100 points. The Sails' 1,450-point haul widened their season lead over New Jersey from 250 points to 500.
What It Means for the Season Race
The top two clubs in each division advance to the Zane Grey Championship Playoffs. Right now, South Florida Sails (12,400) and New Jersey Sea Birds (11,900) hold the two Atlantic berths — but the cutline is anything but safe. Lights Out Boston (10,900), East Coast Remix (10,800), and South Carolina Outcast (10,600) are separated by just 300 points and sit within striking distance of second place. With two regular-season stops remaining — the Rhode Island Offshore Invitational (July 24–26) and The MidAtlantic / Atlantic Division Championship (August 21–23) — a single strong finish could reorder the entire playoff picture.
